The city of Aurora hosts five e-cycle events each year, which are open to Aurora residents and non-residents. Electronics are collected and recycled by Techno Rescue, a veteran-owned green IT company located in Aurora. Techno Rescue can recycle more than just TVs and computers. You can bring almost anything with a cord or a battery, including: VCRs, stereos, printers, fax machines, cell phones, microwaves, small appliances and more. All data storage media are wiped and physically destroyed to protect your identity.
Most electronic items are accepted for free. However, due to rising costs associated with processing cathode ray tube electronics, which contain lead, it costs $20 to recycle cathode ray tube televisions 22 inches and under, and $40 for cathode ray tube televisions over 22 inches (maximum size accepted is 42 inches). Cathode ray tube monitors remain $10 each. CRT TVs with exposed and/or broken tubes will not be accepted.
In addition, appliances that contain refrigerant or coolant, and light bulbs will not be accepted.
