Responsible Growth

Aurora grew 10.7% between 2010 and 2015, demonstrating that our city has a lot to offer. Growth and development are not inherently bad but it is important that we grow responsibly. This means ensuring that housing remains affordable for those who already live here and improving the quality of life for all Aurorans without overburdening current residents. There are many ways to do this, including incentivizing affordable housing, streamlining permitting processes, but we must also ensure that new developments pay their fair share for building new fire and police stations, roads, libraries, parks, and recreation centers. This has not historically been the case and I’m looking forward to working towards changing the culture and expectations.
